Fishing Report Aug 18, 2018

The last few weeks have provided our guests with some stellar fishing and great weather for the most part.  Kyuquot has certainly lived up to its expectations with limits of salmon for everyone.  The coho fishing has been spectacular and it's great to see that the areas inshore have been the best producing areas!  Spring Island, Favourite Entrance and Thornton Island have been producing great fishing for both springs and coho.

Halibut and lings have been trickier to find inshore but off shore we have been able to produce limits of these tasty bottom feeders too!  We had a nice stretch of calm seas that lasted a couple of weeks but lately we have seen some very strong NW winds which have limited us to how far out we can go and fish comfortably.  That said, the inshore salmon fishery has kept everyone very happy and no one argues with the sunny skies!

As with the rest of BC, we are in dire need of some rain but it doesn't look like there's much relief on the way.  Fires are burning in several areas along the coast and the wind hasn't helped in fuelling them.  This has created some smoky skies.

Our salmon BBQs on the beach have been a huge hit with all of our guests, whether we make it out to Spring Island or go out behind the lodge to Outside Beach.  Traditionally cooked salmon on cedar sticks, over an open fire, accompanied by some talk and songs from the local culture have added a nice, different touch to an already great fishing experiences!

The fishing hasn't showed any signs of slowing down and that's great news so if you're booked to come see us this year, be ready for a great time!  If you haven't booked for this year, we can certainly talk about next year but space for 2019 is already disappearing fast and we expect to be 100% sold out!  Make your plans early for next summer!  Our fly in packages have proved to be the most popular by far and are already filling up!  We will be offering drive in packages for the first half of July and then it will be fly in packages after July 14.

Contact us as soon as you can make any plans for 2019 to avoid disappointment.  It's already shaping up to be our best season yet.

We want to thank everyone who has joined us to this point in the season and look forward to seeing almost all of you again next year!  We all hope you have a great rest of the summer!  We still have some great friends coming to see us this year yet and are anxious to see you and to making some new friends as well!
